Design Miami/ Goes Virtual

Design Miami

An invitation to experience Design Miami/ in a new way

Dear Design Miami/ Community,

Witnessing our community come together virtually and support each other during this challenging year has been an inspiration. In response to the numerous hurdles and hardships around the globe, so many have chosen to rise to the occasion and find constructive paths forward.

The Design Miami/ experience has been built around large-scale, vibrant, in-person events that gather experts and enthusiasts from around the globe. We look forward to bringing everyone together again in Miami in December, but for now, we are delighted to share with you something entirely new. Over the past several months, we have been developing a new experience that offers the expertise that defines our fair, while broadening it to engage new audiences and voices.

The result is the online platform you see here, which will allow Design Miami/—and the conversations it inspires—to go virtual, 365 days a year. Among the new features is Design Miami/ Shop, a digital platform offering exceptional historic and 21st-century design to collectors worldwide. Curated by the Design Miami/ team and our incomparable partner galleries, the available selection will range from rare masterpieces to works by emerging designers.

As the Global Forum for Design, we’re also proud to launch The Forum/, which presents  original editorial content designed to highlight inspiring voices in the field while deepening awareness of the value of design and the rich contexts that surround it. Expect engaging columns from architect Lee Mindel and editor Dung Ngo among an array of insider-driven articles, interviews, and videos.

We also encourage you to go to Design for GlobalGiving. In collaboration with Anava Projects, we’ve invited our network of creatives to donate unique and limited-edition works on paper for purchase. One hundred percent of the proceeds go to the COVID-19 Relief Fund of GlobalGiving, a respected international charity that is directing resources to the evolving frontlines of the coronavirus crisis around the world.

We are immensely proud of the Design Miami/ team, who have worked brilliantly and diligently over the past few months to build from scratch a new way of bringing out the best of, and in, design.  Stay tuned. There’s more to come.

Until we have the pleasure of reconvening at the fair again…

Warmest regards,
