Yukiya Izumita sculpts with the iron-rich clay of the Iwate prefecture in the Tohuku region of Northeast Japan. Working entirely by hand, Izumita's gentle technique is in stark contrast to the harsh clay; the meditative process produces a multi-dimensional surface full of possibilities, laminated like the strata of Earth's crust.
