The arctic environment is the main inspiration behind Tangens sculptural work. She tries to capture the fleeting qualities and expressions in the transformation from liquid to frozen form. The optical qualities of glass give space to highlight contrasts, the key elements of her work. The inner forms are often shaped to illustrate organic movement, frozen in time and space. Her work is often experimental and she freely combines glass with other materials such as plaster, stone and metal. Hoping to spark the imagination of the viewer and create the ideal flow of associations, she encourages the viewer to interact with her objects.
