Thanks to a career that spanned nearly seventy years, Vladimir Kagan is considered one of the most prolific designers of the twentieth century. Known for his flowing, biomorphic designs, Kagan brought a distinct sensuality to modern design. This iconic Serpentine Sofa is incredibly rare and historic as it was produced c. 1950 at the Kagan factory on 81st Street and East End Avenue (which later was destroyed by a fire in 1972) and purchased from the Kagan-Dreyfus Showroom on 57th Street in New York. This is one of only a handful of designs from this era to still exist and whilst it has been meticulously restored it can still be distinguished by the original ball casters.
