This set of rare painted oval Shaker boxes was assembled by notable collector Dr. Marvin Gliedman for inclusion in the seminal 1983 exhibition "Shaker Design" at the Whitney Museum of American Art. These boxes were selected from his collection and arranged in exactly this way to show the range and variation of this unique Shaker craft.
