This glazed stoneware object was created by Sakari Kannosto in 2020. Born in Finland, Kannosto is a multimedia artist based in Helsinki, where he is a member of the Arabia Art Department Society. Known for both sculptures and large-scale installations, Kannosto creates fantastical figurative works inspired by Finnish folklore that explores the relationship between humans and nature. Motivated by contemporary environmental issues and their potentially disastrous outcomes, Kannosto reimagines his animals’ ability to adapt to a world damaged by industry.
