Reinier Bosch’s X-Console is from his Letter Series, which was inspired by the signs integrated in the architecture in Istanbul. The letters have their literal meaning but are also aesthetic objects. Each piece in the series is distinct, and yet they harmonize together, both aesthetically and functionally. The series consists of functional tables, cabinets, and consoles, with design elements that reference Pop Art. Each piece refers to a different emotion, usually in the form of onomatopoeia. The X-Console nods to the famous Pop Art comic book panels of Roy Lichtenstein.
Born in Groningen, Bosch was the Design Academy Eindhoven’s top-graduating student in 2007, who went on to win the prestigious Melkweg Prize. Wallpaper Magazine recognized him as a promising, upcoming design talent in 2008. His works are characterized by a complexity in the composition, in the arrangement of materials, and in the stories they tell.
