Piloh's Bryophyta Series marries the geometry and the organic. Each vase is made of steel, cashmere, merino wool, and mohair. Through a long hand-worked process, natural fibers—like a moss—slowly overtake the cold surface of the metal form and a new texture emerges. The identity of the object is highlighted by a palette of earthy colors. Each vase also includes a removable plastic inner-vase. This design is available in a limited edition of 22, but due to the nature of production each piece is one-of-a-kind.This vase measures 17 x 9 x 55.5 cm.
Based in Spoleto, Piloh Studio was launched in 2010 by Italian designer Paola Santilli. Drawing inspiration from nature, the studio takes an ecological approach to design, embracing natural materials and traditional handcrafting techniques to elevate everyday objects. Through experimentation with textures and organic shapes, Piloh creates unique pieces inexorably linked to the location where the objects are imagined and conceived, in Central Italy. In addition to its self-initiated work, Piloh takes on unique commissions for interior designers and architects. The studio has exhibited at Milan Design Week and Maison et Objet in Paris.
