This table designed by Pierre Jeanneret was intended for the High Court and the University of Punjab in Chandigarh, India. From 1955 to 1965, Jeanneret devoted most of his time to the University, designing both the buildings and the furniture, the campus furnishings represented the largest single order for Chandigarh. Jeanneret opted for readily available materials, with an emphasis on the different local species of wood, rot-resistant and perfectly adapted to the vicissitude the climate, here teak. This large table consists of a solid top resting on sturdy yet refined legs in V shape that convey a sense of elegance and lightness to the piece. This piece presents a genuine and elegant wood patina.
