This teak desk was designed by Pierre Jeanneret for the administrative buildings of Chandigarh, circa 1957-58. This design is cited in “Pierre Jeanneret Chandigarh”, published by Galerie Downtown/Paris in 2014 (pp. 56-59).
Swiss-born architect and furniture designer Jeanneret (1896-1967) worked for most of his life alongside his cousin Le Corbusier. In the early 1950s, they took on a massive urban planning project in Chandigarh, India, designing and producing low cost buildings for the community. The city evolved into a landmark of modernist architecture.
