This one-off sculpture includes multiple elements that nod to Philippe Bousquet’s history as a jeweller: glazed ceramic, quartz, silver, copper, emerald and pearl. An architect by training, Philippe left the trade for a more hands-on mode of making and became a jeweller and artist. He is known for his intricately constructed sculptures and poetic assemblages incorporating found objects, but his talents also extend to painting, ceramics and photography. Secret III is part of a recent series of assemblage sculptures that move towards abstraction and a more rough-hewn approach to materials.
