Like reptilian scales, the ever shifting surface of Kodai Ujiie's oribe tea bowl is a kaleidoscope of colors; the result of a celadon glaze. Ujiie careful develops the surface by fracturing the ceramic, which he plugs with a colored lacquer laid within the seams.
