Olivia Walker creates porcelain works that explore the symbiotic relationship between growth and decay, between nature and man-made. All of her works are first thrown on the wheel before being built upon with thousands of individually-applied fragments of porcelain. Many of her vessels are thrown and then cut away, reassembled in the leather-hard stage, deconstructed and built up anew. Her organic accretions spread out and grow, like abstract coral and fungus.
