Sinmi, meaning “to relax” in the West African Yoruba language, allows for different sitting, leaning, and perching positions. It reflects designer Norman Teague’s interest in informal seating as well as his approach to contemporary design as a Black American. Sinmi is fashioned from laminated and bent birch plywood, adorned with a ponyskin and leather saddle by Yohance Lacour.
