"I began as a potter, all I was interested in was making as many of the 'best' pots I could make that would find themselves in cabinets and cupholders and be chipped and broken and replaced. This evolved overtime as I realized that I wanted to say things with my work that a round and brown pot were not good at saying. I needed function in order to carry my work into real life, but I wanted it to forge joy once there. These thoughts led to the making of furniture which to me just seemed like pots that contained not coffee, but bodies. I started making rugs because I didn't think I would be able to make ceramic furniture comfortable but it turns out that hard can be soft if its shaped correctly. The rugs now are taking on a life of their own which is so exciting to me." Nick Weddell
