First coated in black lacquer, Jihei Murase permits the black varnish to appear through the final layer of vermillion in the traditional negoro style. Though the heishi bottlenecked vase was oiringially intended as a sake bottle, Murase has transformed the classic shape into an elegantly curved flower vase perfect for a single stemmed bloom.
