Description

R & Company

Nancy Lorenz incorporates techniques from traditional East Asian craft, notably, lacquer, into her multifaceted work. Lacquer involves the methodical application of many layers of urushi (a natural tree sap) over a base, sometimes with the addition of metal leaf, mother-of-pearl, or pigments. To realize boxes, mirrors, and furniture, like “Red Gold Pour Box,” Lorenz uses mother-of-pearl inlay and gold leaf, applying such materials with painterly gestures to create beautifully refined and sophisticated objects.

Please note this work is currently a part of the Objects: USA 2020 exhibition at R & Company. As such, the work will need to remain on view for the duration of the exhibition and will be available for shipment in September. The piece ships from New York, NY, directly from the seller. Shipping and tax (except eligible FL tax) will be charged separately.
