Chinese lacquer artist Zhou Runda has devoted his life's work to the exploration of Chinese lacquer fine craftsmanship. Designer Naihan Li has joined him in this effort to bring contemporary form-making to this 8,000 years old tradition. This folding screen, created with eggshell inlay, a month-long handcrafting process, is from a collection which bears a spiritual echo of the Art Deco movement, a time in which lacquer was used by European designers as a means of luxury, and which now returns to China to express its full potential of endless lacquer treatment and its unique effect in contemporary design.
