Chinese lacquer artist Zhou Runda has devoted his life's work to the exploration of Chinese lacquer fine craftsmanship. Designer Naihan Li has joined him in this effort to bring contemporary form-making to this 8,000 year-old tradition. Together, they bring forth a new collection of lacquer furniture. Made with fine wooden carpentry, the surface becomes a playground for endless lacquer treatment and its unique effects. This lacquer chair was hand molded on the base layer to achieve the unique, fluid curves, with the edges polished through to reveal the many layers of lacquer embedded underneath.
