Michael Coffey often looks to ancient mechanisms for inspiration in the creation of his most cutting-edge designs. Made of wood and agate sourced from noted agate stone collector Brenda Houston, his Lunar Sea Coffee Table is inspired by the geo-lithic carving that takes place as great bodies of water move over stone over billions of years. The result is a functional coffee table characterized by a cool, contrasting, shining agate in a sea of warm wood. Born and raised in New York City, Coffey has been working with wood for over 40 years and is known as one of the last true master woodworkers still producing work today.
