Taking inspiration from the twisting forms of organic materials, Markus Haase hand-carves each element of his unique dining chair before casting it in polished bronze. The bronze components appear as animated waves, columns of smoke, or curling seaweed. Shown upholstered in white pony hair, the chair can be Inspired by nature and the human form, Markus Haase’s Sculptural Series Sconces and Chandeliers are composed of bronze or wood asymmetrical butterfly forms. Each hand-carved form is embedded with white onyx, encasing dimmable LED lights, offering a warm, perennial glow as the LEDs emit light softly through the stone. Combining a mastery of traditional sculpting techniques with a contemporary, material-driven approach to design, Haase is one of the only artists working today who crafts unique works in bronze. Rather than using the casting process as a mechanism for producing multiples, each of his bronze and onyx light sculptures is completely one-of-a-kind.
