The design is part of the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum. Later Botta incorporated similar black and white layers into his design for SFMOMA. It is marked on the underside Mario Botta Shogun Artemide.
Born in Switzerland, Botta is an architect associated with the postmodern movement in Italy. He is responsible for a number of iconic buildings as well as furniture and lighting designs.
