Maria Pergay designed Planter C in 2009. Available as an edition of 8 + 2 AP, it exhibits Pergay’s signature sculptural approach to working with stainless steel.
French designer Pergay (b. 1930) was born in Moldova, but during World War II her family fled to Paris. Following some years working as a window dresser, in the 1960s she opened her own atelier in the Marais dedicated to decorative objects, especially silverwork. Soon she began to design at larger scales and became known for her intricate furniture in stainless steel. Her clients have included luminaries such as Salvador Dalí, Pierre Cardin, and Saudi Prince Abdullah.
