Designed in 1968 mainly for private commissions, the rare Chaise X is now in re-edition with and without arms. Maria Pergay’s usage of stainless steel not only became her trademark, but also changed the face of French decoration in the 1970s. Pergay has never belonged to a distinct design movement or group of designers, an individual content to indulge her own imagination rather than the influences of her contemporaries. Having pioneered the use of stainless steel in furniture, she has ceaselessly challenged the inherent limitations of her primary material. Requested payment for this work is in Euros (€15,000).
