Mimicking the form of a winged seed pod, paper thin laminations create midribs and veins which enclose sections of frosted poured resin that make up Fish’s delicate console tables. As the spaces between the “ribs” fluctuate, light passes through at different shades from light to dark. This new light-retaining material’s effect is that of a constantly shifting, illuminated surface. The structure of the consoles have a ribbon-like delicacy that betrays their structural integrity. Fish’s masterful composition creates the illusion of sloping surface despite being perfectly level. Fish’s dramatic sculptural tables are a testament to the maker’s ingenuity and imagination.
