Description

Sarah Myerscough Gallery

Unique. South Korean artist Junsu Kim creates his organic vessels by coiling thin leather strips, meditatively building layers to create each vessel’s form. Junsu seeks to capture a sense of time through his use of material and process; the leather reflects the rings of a tree and the slowness and regenerative qualities of a lifecycle. His work has been exhibited extensively in both South Korea and internationally in Paris and London. Kim was the recipient of the 2019 Cheongju Craft Biennale Competition, and was named the Artist of the Year Director Prize at the Craft Trend Fair in 2017.
