Designed by Julien Carretero, Profiles is a series of six unique lamps made from various combinations of steel profiles. These lamps were commissioned in 2015 by Gallery Caroline Van Hoek as a scenographic ensemble to highlight its contemporary jewelry collection. Profiles Lamp IV is an edition of 6 and measures 90 x 10 x 41 cm.
Born in the suburbs of Paris, Carretero studied industrial design in both France and England before graduating from Design Academy Eindhoven with an MA in Contextual Design. He set up his own studio in Brussels in 2008.
Studio Julien Carretero is a multidisciplinary practice dedicated to the design of objects, furniture, lighting, processes, interiors, and exhibitions—often using production methods at the intersection of craft and industry.
Carretero’s work was awarded by the Villa Noailles Design Parade festival in Hyères and is part of the collection of the Fonds National d’Art Contemporain and the MUDAM Luxembourg. His projects have been internationally exhibited in renowned venues like the Triennale di Milano, Design Miami/ Basel, 21_21 Design Sight Museum, New York Museum of Art & Design, Saatchi Gallery, and Cologne Museum for Applied Arts.
