Description

R & Company

In 1948, the Brazilian designer José Zanine Caldas co-founded Móveis Artísticos Z, which pioneered the design and production of plywood furniture in Brazil, including the chair seen here. Distraught by the ecological devastation he saw unfolding around him, Zanine would later become known for his hand-sculpted, solid wood furniture made from salvaged timber and trees.
