This table was created by Joaquim Tenreiro. It features a rosewood veneer structure and opalized glass. Like all of this Brazilian master’s work, the piece is characterized by elegant lines, sophisticated finishing, and excellent craftsmanship. Tenreiro (1906-1992) was born in Portugal into a family of woodworkers and emigrated to Rio de Janeiro in the 1920s. He played a key role in disseminating modernist design ideas within Brazil as well as defining Brazilian design to the rest of the world. Oscar Niemeyer was one of his most high-profile champions and clients./p>
