This plant stand by Jean Royère features an orange lacquered spring-like form and four plates for supporting plant pots.
Born into a wealthy French family, Royère (1902-1981) embarked on his design career rather late. In 1931, at age 29, he went to learn his new profession in the cabinetmaking workshops of the Faubourg Saint-Antoine in Paris. Just a few years later, he was deemed an international design sensation—a stature he would hold until the 1970s. His clients included luminaries like King Farouk, King Hussein of Jordan, the Shah of Iran, among many more.
