This daybed was designed by Jean Prouvé and edited by Steph Simon circa 1954. References to this design can be found in “Lits isolés ou jumelés,” by Renée Diamant in L’Architecture d’Aujourd’hui (September-October 1954, p. 36) and Jean Prouvé Œuvre Complète Volume 3: 1944-1954 by Peter Sulzer, published by Birkhäuser Bâle in 2005 (p. 167).
Prouvé (1901–1984) was a 20th-century pioneer in the innovative production of furniture and architecture. He contributed considerably to the reconstruction and urbanization of postwar France and left an indelible stamp on European material culture.
