When Elisabetta Cipriani commissioned Jannis Kounellis to collaborate on a new jewelry collection, he responded with a proposal to recreate his 1972 gold sculpture that was stolen in the 1980s. A wearable sculpture, the Labbra (Lips) Ring is cast from Kounellis’s lips, reminiscent of ancient Greek masks, and is intended to be worn on the middle finger. The design is available in an edition of 12, each signed, numbered, and made to measure. Kounellis (1936-2017) was a Greek Italian contemporary artist based in Rome. He was a key figure in the Arte Povera movement.
