Isamu Noguchi "Akari" light sculpture
The Akari Light Sculpture was designed by Isamu Noguchi, edited by Ozeki Company in Gifu, Japan, and distributed by Steph Simon in Paris. The lampshade is made of mino (mulberry) tree paper and rests on 4 thin black tubular legs. A red sun and moon ideogram can be found at the bottom of the shade.
Born in LA, Noguchi (1904-1988) was a Japanese-American artist and architect—one of the 20th century's most important and critically acclaimed sculptors.
