Ilkka Suppanen Vanishing Barge $12,000>
Galerie Maria Wettergren

"Vanishing Barge" was made in collaboration with Murano Tiozzo and Claudio Pino Signoretto in their legendary glass studios in Murano Venezia. Made of solid glass and silver, this unique piece explores the idea of vanishing, meaning something that disappear from sight, becomes invisible. Metaphorically, the name associated with the glass material and water to the similarity, may be liquid, vapor or solid. The glass works intensify forms inside of them: something that seem to disappear and then becoming visible. The endless recyclability symbolically combines the study of circulation of matter and fragility of moment. This ongoing process of fragility can be seen also as the part of the processes of sustainable development and globalization. It seems that all that is solid melts into air.
