This unique rug was created by Hechizoo. It employs the Bettina en Sibundoy technique, which incorporates metal and nylon thread in an intricate oscillating pattern. In this case, the carpet features a distinct asymmetric shape in a mixture of metals with a semicircular edge woven. Founded by Jorge Lizarazo in 2000, Hechizoo is a Bogotá-based weaving atelier that produces custom-made textiles, including rugs, upholstery, window treatments, and architectural meshes. A self-taught weaver, Lizarazo originally studied architecture at Los Andes University. Upon graduation, he moved to France and practiced architecture in the offices of Santiago Calatrava and Massimiliano Fuksas. Drawn to inventive use of materials, he set out to create what he calls “soft architecture.” He has since developed an international reputation for textiles that integrate indigenous organic fibers and man-made materials and that have the power to transform a space both visually and sensually.
