This pure lines and tubular steel of this pair of armchairs is characteristic of the work of Carlo Hauner and Martin Eisler.
Born in Brescia, Italy, Hauner (1927-1997) studied design in Milan before moving to Brazil after World War II. There he met Vienna-born Eisler (1913-1977) with whom he founded furniture company Forma Brasil. Forma manufactured the founders’ own designs alongside others licensed from Knoll International. The duo played a key role in defining mid-century modernism in Brazil.
