Galerie Maria Wettergren

The wall sculpture, «TELA», was handmade in 2018 by the Norwegian fiber artist Gjertrud Hals by patiently twisting together metal wires and small fiber balls into a large, floating grid. Subsequently sprayed with various of layers of pigmented paper pulp, this molecular-shaped structure is, like much of Hals’ work, inspired by organic principles, operating in a poetic twilight zone between art and nature. The title comes from Latin and the work is, in the words of artist "to be understood as a weblike structure or membrane - an organic grid of thought and emotion."
