The iconic 1056 Floor Light was designed by the Italian lighting master Gino Sarfatti in 1948 and produced by his lighting company Arteluce.

 

Born in Venice, Gino Sarfatti (1912-1985) studied aero-naval engineering at the University of Genoa before launching his visionary lighting design and manufacturing company Arteluce in 1939. Over the course of his career, he designed over 400 lamps; driven by technical, material, and production research. Sarfatti and Arteluce won several awards, including the Compasso d’Oro in 1954 and 1955.
