This rare rosewood sofa was designed by Geraldo de Barros and produced by Unilabor in 1955.
Born in Chavantes, Brazil, Geraldo de Barros (1923-1998) was a pioneer of experimental photography in Brazil and is one of the main exponents of the Concretism and abstract movements in the Brazilian avant-garde. In 1954, together with a Dominican Priest, he founded the Cooperativa Unilabor for the production of modernist furniture, with the goal of providing high-quality affordable furniture to all social classes.
