This black enameled ceramic chalice, created by Georges Jouve, is in perfect original condition. It features an undulating form that interacts with the ambient light as the viewer moves around it.
This piece is signed Jouve with the Alpha monogram under the base. This model is illustrated in the reference book by Michel Faré, Georges Jouve, ed Art et Industrie, 1965 (p. 71).
Born in Fontenay-sous-Bois, Jouve (1910-1964) is among the most iconic 20th-century French ceramists.
