This rare, early, and important prototype —recently rediscovered after being “lost” for over 60 years— was made by Japanese-American designer and craftsman George Nakashima for the Seattle home of cosmetics executive André Ligné. It was part of Nakashima’s first interior commission and became a staple of his oeuvre.
