George Nakashima created this very rare pair of custom chests—one with a left overhang and the other with a right overhang—in 1965. Each features a front free sap edge. They can be pushed together or used separately. Overhangs on any Nakashima single chest of drawers are extremely uncommon, especially combined with a front free edge.
Nakashima (1905-1990) was an American architect and furniture maker who is considered to be the father of the American Craft movement.
