George Nakashima, Minguren II Coffee Table $65,000>
Moderne Gallery

The free-edge top of this coffee table came from the ballast of the Mayflower II, a 1956 replica of the Mayflower ship, when it was docked for repairs in the early 1970s. George Nakashima was a great innovator of 20th-century craft and design, producing a modern American idiom by merging Japanese and American vernacular traditions.
