This Custom unique End Table, ordered in 1963 and completed in 1964 by George Nakashima, in rare woods - English oak burl top with rosewood butterfly and East Indian Laurel base. An excellent example of Nakashima's ability to successfully design a custom piece to serve a special purpose for the client. This table was intended as a telephone table with a lower shelf for a phone book.
Nakashima (1905-1990) was an American architect and furniture maker who is considered to be the father of the American Craft movement.
