Formafantasma Ellipse $28,000>
Giustini / Stagetti

The Ellipse Ceiling Lamp was designed in 2017 by Formafantasma in collaboration with the TextielMuseum in Tilburg. Available as a limited edition of 6 + 2 AP, this masterpiece of design highlights the studio’s interest in rethinking object typologies through material investigations.

Andrea Trimarchi (b. 1983) and Simone Farresin (b. 1980) are Studio Formafantasma, two Italian designers based in Amsterdam. Since graduating from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2009, the duo has developed an impressive body of work characterized by experimental material investigations and explorations into social issues like the relationship between tradition and local culture, critical approaches to sustainability, and the significance of objects as cultural conduits. Museums such as the MoMA, Victoria & Albert, Metropolitan Museum, Chicago Art Institute, Centre Pompidou, TextielMuseum Tilburg, Stedelijk Museum’s-Hertogenbosch, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, mudac Lausanne, the Mint Museum of Craft & Design in North Carolina, MAK Museum Vienna, Fondation Cartier, Centraal Museum in Utrecht, Les Arts Décoratifs, and the Centre National des Arts Plastiques have all acquired Formafantasma’s designs for their permanent collections.
