Instead of applying colorful glazes in the traditional way, Morioka takes a minimalist approach through embracing the natural surface of the Kutani porcelain. The color of this vase resemble the floating clouds of Kanazawa, and the rippling glaze on this gray flower vase is created by Morioka’s unique process of sheathing the Kutani porcelain with rice husks inside the kiln.
