Noam Dover and Michal Cederbaum created the Charcoal; Volumes Series for the duo's solo show, A Sort of Homecoming, curated by Sandra Weil and presented at Galleri Glas in Stockholm in 2019.

The series is the outcome of research into the qualities of mouth-blown glass and the potential of the mold materiality to maintain its presence in the final glass object. The volumes are blown in dry oak wood molds, where the heat of the glass burns the wood and enables the glass to record the texture of the charcoal in its finest details. Charcoal; Volumes 08 is handmade in glass and measures 47 x 24 x 22 cm. It is a one-of-a-kind.

Dover & Cederbaum is a collaborative, multi-disciplinary creative practice that explores design, craft, digital fabrication—and whatever happens in between—with a focus on working at the local scale for a global audience. The studio has exhibited worldwide and is included in both private and public collections.
