For his Eques Series, Dominick Leuci drew inspiration from the enchanting appearance of sea dragons (Phycodurus Eques). Rendered in stainless steel, the forms embody the flora-like fish’s elegant suspended movements and buoyancy. The custom-made plumes reflect light from the body—as well as from the surrounding environment—adding deeper layers of surprise as the light around the sculpture changes.

Leuci launched his Brooklyn-based studio in 2016. With an extensive background in fashion and home design, he creates unique works that appear to exist somewhere between the natural and man-made.
