collection of drawings that attempt to visualize the stark distinction between interior architecture anfood. The print is signed on the back by the designer.

Struck by UK-wide reports of empty supermarket shelves in the early days of the lockdown, Brown began to use 3D modeling software to capture his reflections on stocked vs. unstocked shelves in his own Tesco Bethnal Green. His goal is, in his own words, to highlight “the perils of panic buying” and “draw our attention to the unseen producers, delivery drivers, shelf stackers, cashiers, and security guards that make grocery shopping possible on a daily basis.”

Founded by designer Brown in London, Brown Office makes objects, installations, and interiors with a dedication to materiality and narrative—delivering projects for clients including Google, Uniqlo, Nike, Sèvres, Depop, and Schloss Hollenegg for Design. The studio’s work has been exhibited internationally at Milan Design Week, London Design Festival, Victoria & Albert Museum, and Aram Gallery London.

Dean studied Product Design at DJCAD, University of Dundee in Scotland, where he also served thereafter as designer in residence. His research-and communications-driven approach is informed by his residency at Fabrica Communication Research Centre in Treviso (2010-2014), as well as by his current position as Research Fellow within the Interaction Research Studio, Goldsmiths University of London.

Dean Brown Super Supermarket Diptych $500

“In recent times, shopping for food has become some kind of collective frontier. We take for granted the idea that a supermarket is always stocked, but in reality the building and the produce it contains are entirely separate things.” —Dean Brown

Dean Brown has donated this A4 diptych print, which comes from his recent collection of drawings that attempt to visualize the stark distinction between interior architecture anfood. The print is signed on the back by the designer.
