This variant of the swivel office chair designed by Jean Prouvé in 1944 consists of a movable seat set on a tube mounted on a crosswise metal base. The previous version with backrest and solid spindle-moulded seat was soon abandoned in favour of this one with a more slender base and a moulded plywood seat. This model - which backrest is attached with flat metal supports running on under the seat - went on the market in 1947 under the title CD 11. After Jean Prouvé left Maxéville, other swivel seats designed at the Ateliers Jean Prouvé were more like workshop stools than office furniture.
This rare piece from 1944 is a very early production, both the light green colour of the structure and the wooden seat and back are original.
